New Battery best practices?

I just bought 6 new batteries and cables for my 2000 TXT 36v cart. Before I install them, what best practices should I observe? How should you charge them, do you do it right away, or after a few cycles of use?, how often? Just looking for best practices so I can enjoy these batteries for a long time.

My usage on this cart is just a neighborhood cruiser, no real extened usage, just playing around here and there.

A good rule to follow is charge them after every use of 15 or more minutes of actual run time. Charge the new batteries completely before the first use.
