Yamaha G9 Rear Shocks

Hi all,
I have Yamaha G9 with a 4'' lift and a rear seat and I need new rear shocks badly. I have heard that older model VW Beetle rear shocks will fit and if so do you remove the spacer for the lift? Does anyone here have any experience with them?
Thanks

I just bought a set of chrome coil over shocks that were designed for a VW/sandrail. The shocks are 16 3/4" long center of eye to center of eye. They are rated up to 700 lbs with 3 load settings. I put them a g-16 frame only at the lightest setting and stepped on rear bumper (I weigh 165 lbs) and the frame lowered about 2 ". I set shocks on the heavest setting and stood in same place and the frame only drop less than a inch. I think stock shocks are about 12" long so that would give you close to 4" of lift. I did have to cut one end of the shocks bushings to fit in original brackets. Here is a few pics with out the shocks bolted in.

Thanks All
The stock VW shocks do bolt up but won't hold the weight of the cart alone. :wallbash:
The chrome shocks do look good.
Think I'll go ahead and get the heavy duty coils and put them over my stock shocks
