Yamaha G1 GETTING HOT

I just rebuilt a Yamaha G1 engine and it runs great but after it runs for a half mile it loses power like it is getting hot and wants to seize up. Let it sit 5 minutes and it will run again for a short distance and do the same thing. When I lifted the back the engine was very hot. There was no oil in the feed hose to the carb. Possible the lack of oil could cause this? Is there away to check or prime the oil pump? We drive these carts a long way and don't wanna blow up a new rebuild. Any help would be appreciated.

I would unhook that oil line and premix the oil and gas, older oil injection systems can't be trusted. Welcome to the forum.

I've heard so many options on mixture ratio just don't know what to go with. 35 to 1,50 to 1,85 to 1,150 to 1.

if you would use a good 2 cycle oil like Yamalube, 40:1 will work fine.
