Wiring The Golf Cart To Stay Running

I'm trying to wire the cart to turn on and off at the key and stay running and need help with the wiring to do this. I don't want the cart to turn on and off when the throttle is pressed. Has this been done before with any success? Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction? Thanks.

you can just bypass the micro switch on the pedal so when you turn the key it starts. you will need to raise the idle on the carb enough to switch out of start mode, i always had to install a stiffer drive clutch spring to keep the clutch from engaging at idle.

Thanks for the advise. I've wired past the switch and ordered a new drive clutch spring. Now I just need install it and figure out the whole idle thing. Thanks again!

Old post I know, but I plan to convert my golf cart to key start. My tuning spring should be here today from CPP. I was wondering if I simply bent the actuator on the micro switch so the loop is closed all the time, would that do the trick? Also, I suppose once the rpms come up and the generator begins to feed juice back to the system, another micro switch takes the starter/generator out of starter mode? I just want to know how it works.

Thanks for any info :hattip:
