Which Cart

I am about to buy my first golf cart and have been looking at the G29-E 2008 this has 4 x 12v Batteries and I have been told this is very Hungary on batteries in that they last 18-24 months is this correct?
The alternative is the G22-E GMAX 2006 which has 6 x 8v batteries would this be a better cart? Thanks in advance.

Both are good carts.
What are your priorities and what will you be doing with the cart?
What is the background on both of them and which one do you like the best?

Hi Doug and thanks for your reply, I will be using it for Golf, they are both X 1st owner and were used for golf, I do not prefer one over the other it was just hearing that the G29 had a bad reputation for battery usage which could prove expensive, batteries in most Carts in my club last about 5 years. so any info that you give would be appreciated. are you aware of this problem?

Welcome to the forum.

I lean toward the 2006 G22 only because of the batteries.

Then again you could always convert the G29 to six 8 volt batteries when the time comes for new ones.

Did a little research with my Yamaha guys and they recommend the G-22. The G-29's had some issues until 2010. As HRC said the battery differences along with the issues and recommendation from the Yamaha guys, I would go with the G-22.

I have finally settled on a refurbished G22E with 12 month wty and good batteries (6 x 8v) that the supplier says will certainly do for 18-24 months, he has offered a choice of a split or one piece front screen, any ideas, are the screen hinges reliable ? it would be nice in the Summer to get some fresh air.

I agree with the hinged windshield, my cart is a 1998 and still has the original hinged windshield without any problems.

Hi Guys I took delivery this morning and have just completed 18 holes it performed very well but a couple of things are not right I have emailed the dealer but thought I would see what you think:

1. There is a scraping noise (not loud) from the left rear wheel ‘metallic’ could be in the brakes but is still there even when braking?

2. The battery charger makes a real growl when switched on I think this may be normal

3. The Car has power all the time no matter if the key is on-off-or no key at all (almost as if it has been hot wired) could this be related to the charge indicator as fitted by the dealer which I found not to be working. Otherwise a great Cart

Congrats on the new cart.

1 - The scraping noise could be a brake problem, loose hub, or a bad wheel bearing. Definitely needs to be looked at.

2 - Some chargers are louder than others. It's probably fine as long as it's working like it should.

3 - This could be a bad key switch, cart wired wrong, stuck solenoid. Definitely needs to be fixed.

If the dealer you bought from is reputable he should fix the problems at no cost unless you bought the cart as is. Good luck and let us know what the dealer tells you.

In the resource section there is a parts manual [Yamaha Parts Manual G5 Electric] does this cover the G22E ? Thanks
Also where do I find the "immediate email notification of posts) button?
