whats the difference

I was wondering what the difference was between a yamaha g8 gas cart and a g9 gas cart. I got a g8 for free, but I am having a hard time finding used g8 parts. I see a lot of g9 parts and carts for sale, but barely any g8's. Are electrical parts or engines interchangeable between the 2 models? I am missing things like the ignitor and regulator for my g8. the carb spacer is also missing. What about the wiring harness for the engine? Mine has quite a few hardened and cracked wires. How about the cables for the transmission and throttle, do they interchange?

Any help????

As far as suspension, the G8 is almost identical to a G14-19. Not sure about the wiring???

The G8 is identical in every respect to the G2 and G9. However, the wiring harness is the primary difference. The ignitor fits only a G8 wiring harness. If you are willing to take a bold step (assuming you cannot find a G8 ignitor and the applicable wiring harness), you can use a Hyundai or EZGO ignitor. It goes without saying that you have to totally replace your wiring system. It's not difficult if you are familiar with the principles of electricity.

So if needed, I could used an engine from a g9 or a g2? The top of my motor is missing some valve train components...It is missing the bracket that holds the rocker arm shaft to the head. I am also missing pushrods. It may be beneficial for me to try to find another engine for this cart. I'm not sure how long it sat outside with the spark plug removed. Last week a guy was selling parts from a g9 on ebay..He stripped one to add a motorcycle engine to it and was selling everything I need, but I didn't know if parts would interchange. I know on older cars, you get the same part for a lot of different cars. I guess it will be a learning experience for me to get this cart going.
