I just completely tore apart a G1, you can read my post on here. Anyway, there is a harness of wires coming out of the bottom of the motor underneath the carb and it's a stop switch assembly from what i've found. And i'm sure in that pack of wires there has to be a crank sensor or something or a magnetic pickup of some sort in the motor so when it catches or passes the crank it send a signal to that ignition coil and that transforms it to a high voltage spark. So IMO if you do not have spark at all, it's in that harness, you either have a bad harness, lost or cut a wire down there, or a bad crank position switch, or whatever they are called on these carts.

well, finally had to take it to a yamaha cart mechanic...he found and fixed the problem...not sure if it's the "harness" referred to on that last post, but the is another set of coils (2) under the flywheel,it's a circular plate w/ 2 different coils on it,where the wiring goes to the main coil there are 4 seperate wires next to those wich run to the back and into the engine..my cart is lfted and used off road quite a bit...apparently the smaller of the 2 coils fell off and beat the hell out of the other coil...so,if any of you have replaced your main coil, spark plug, solenoids etc...and still have no spark, this may be your problem...check the coils under the flywheel this may be your problem...had to take it to an expert, would never had known about this if i had'nt
