Ok so from checking other posts i believe that i am the "proud" owner of a 1994 36v ez go golf cart. couple of questions 1. here are my serial number and another number: 836530 and 19L94, do these mean anything to anyone?
2. under my seat, i have (and im not THAT dumb to think that it is this) what appears to be an air filter box, and at the bottom of it there are some wires coming out of it, the one that intreges me the most is the one that looks identical to my charger plug that i hook the cart up to. what is it?
3. my rear end on this thing looks like a differental that has been spun 90 degrees downward and what i believe is the electric motor on top of it, it has no wire coming from the "head" of the unit it only has wires bolted to the sides of it. What does that identify?
4. whats the difference between a marathon, a series, a txt, textron(which i assume is what txt abreviats for)

<---complete and total loss on these things, im trying to familerize myself with this language but im a slow learner so thank you in advance for your knowledge and patience with me.

Welcome to the forum...

The cart is a 94 and either a Marathon or a Medalist model. The black box is the cover for the controller. If it's mounted on the passenger rear wheel well you have a Medalist, if it's mounted in the center of the cart behind the batteries it's a Marathon. I'm not sure what the plug your talking about is thats coming out of the bottom of the cover, I've never seen what your describing. The rear end and motor is supposed and motor to look like your description.

Your best bet for learning about the cart is read through the forum posts and ask questions...

mind if i email you a picture of the plug? it looks just like the plug that is on the charger that you connect to the golf cart to charge the batteries, it is a grey two prong plug. except mine is coming from the controller..id be happy to email a pic of it to you tomorrow

Sure you can email it. Just click the email button at the bottom of my posts. I don't think it's factory so someone must have added it for some reason. I'd pull the black cover and see what it's connected to.

hopefully the email worked for you. I followed the cable, it has one white wire and one black wire, the white wire runs to what appears to be a solonoid, and the black wire runs to a black box mounted right on the passenger side wheel well.

Is the solenoid mounted on the front of the controller under the cover for the controller? Or is there another solenoid mounted somewhere else that the wire is connected to?. I've never seen that plug wired that way on any of the carts I've had here.

coming from the rear wheel fender up it is a black electric control box then theres a metal band bracket holding it then a solonoid mounted to that bracket then the black cover. it almost seems that it should be plugged into something that has the same plug attachment as the charger. if you'd like pics of how that is connected ill snap them for you

What your describing as far as the solenoid and controller is the stock setup. The plug was added by someone for something that apparently is no longer on the cart.

It could be the remnants of an on-board charger setup. Not stock of course. Does the cart run and charge properly?

yes looks like that, what would i look for in regards to where it would plug in at? i need to get batteries because mine are shot but the cart seems to run good while the batteries have a charge.

If you are plugging the charger into the cart charge port and it is charging correctly, there is no reason to keep that extra connector in the system. Follow the wires attached to that plug and carefully remove them. Remember, that pack is VERY powerful, so please observe proper safety precautions before working on the cart.

that looks like an onboard charger recepticle to me, remember to unhook the batteries before disconnecting any wires. i have a 9/16 wrench that has a nasty chunk taken out of it with just one 6v batt

Sorry for my delay in responding, thank you for the info, but would an "onboard charger" allow me to drive while it self recharges? and what would that plug, plug into? do you have a picture of what it would plug into?

No, a onboard charger wouldn't allow you to charge while using the cart. A onboard charger is just a charger that remains on the cart, you still have to plug into AC to charge the cart. If the plug was for a onboard charger it would have plugged into the charger under the seat. Like Gorno said if the cart is running and charging fine you can remove the plug or tuck it away and forget about it. If it was me I'd remove it from the cart and be done with it...
