hey guys, i have a 1999 club car ds gasser...i picked it up not too long ago and have since put a six inch spindle kit, offset 8" rims, and new belts, cables etc... anyhow i am having a problem keeping the brand new optima red top charged...when i put my meter on the battery its at 12.3..as soon as i start the cart in maintenance mode it drops to about 12.1 and doesnt go over 12.5 even with the cart running....the belt is pretty darn tight and im looking for where to look next guys..$175 battery cant stay charged...it sucks...lol any help will be appreciated...still looking for pointers on adjusting the damn governor cable as well...thanks in advance

alright guys been awhile since on the computer...heres the update.... i have replaced the voltage regulator, as well as the brushes in the starter/generator...with the cart running 12.5- 12.7...with out it running it is at about 12.1- 12.3...what else could it possibly be, i mean i dont mind putting a battery tender on it everynight, however when i want to have a night out with the lights and what not on in the campground i know the battery will be drained rather quickly...any help please guys...

if thats with cart revving up and your sure the battery is good ( thats where i would lean ) have it tested and load tested....what type of battery? not a lawn tractor battery right........ok if voltage regulator is working and brushes are new and belt is tight the only other thing is the starter itself........( very rare ) but every once inawhile one does go bad........are all your grounds good and clean your cable connections clean..................................

thanks for the responses guys...the battery is an optima red top, just purchased in june, the voltage regulator as well as the brushed were just replaced with new last week...and when i check voltage it is with the cart at over half throttle...after driving around with the lights on for a little bit the voltage dropped to about 11.3- 11.5..the only other thing i can say is that when i put the lift kit on her i broke the ground strap from the starter to the frame, however i have replaced it, it is a little longer of a strap though... i have been putting a battery tender on it overnight just to keep it charged up and ready to go...
