Do any of you guys have photos and/or a description of what is involved in doing the valve spring upgrade to the Honda 24HP?

Got a good lawnmower mechanic handy? They can do that in their sleep for about 1 hour labor. It requires a couple of specialized tools. You dont want to risk dropping a valve into the cylinder. I know some folks have done it themselves, and I've also seen some of these folks drop the valves into the cylinder. Then off comes the head to get the valve out.

I get a lot of these done, and its too cheap not to let a pro do it.

I've had it done with the motor in the cart...

Yeah, there is a good guy at local company called Landscape Supply who diagnosed my original diode issue. Having never taken an engine apart it sounds like it would be a good idea. I just don't want to have to take the body off. I'd be willing to pay more if I didn't have to take the body off.

I here that.. There is a good chance you wont have to. I've seen my guy standing on his head working on commerical lawn mowers so he wont have to pull the motor.

Do your homework first though on the side effects. I'm a Briggs guy so I dont know first hand, but there seens to be some side effects and someone may need to correct me, but when modifing the Honda you may have idle issues, it sounding different, and not reving up as far as it use to.

One thing to keep in mind, a rev kit alone does not give it anymore power. It just allows it to safely rev higher if its capable of doing so. If your getting say 4000-4500rpm max right now, a rev kit wont make it rev any higher.

Because I am turning the 4wd kit I am not getting the kind of RPM's that some of these guys are getting when under load. I just want to be able to not have to worry about floating a valve when I get up above 4200. This seems like cheap insurance?
