V-Glide and controller for a 93 CC

I have a 1993 CC with 36v batteries and a 48v system. Has 1 bad battery, but that is another thread.

Anyway, I got an Admiral 10hp 48v motor for a nice price that should give me another 1000 rpm over the current stock motor at 36v.

My cart has the "V-Glide" and resistor speed control. Is the V-Glide OK to use with a speed controller upgrade? I know the SS controller will be better than the VG.

Replacing all the wires now with 4g welding cable with soldered ends. The 36v setup should give me better torque which I will need with a lift, tires and motor upgrade.

You wont get nothing running a 48 volt motor on 36 volts. Now if you run a 36 volt motor on 48 you will get better torque and speed.
If you have a v-glide that is correct for the controller yes it's going to be better than coils.

Yes, I am familiar with running more volts than a motor is rated for. Keep the draw in line and you are fine

I hear the Alltrex speed controls are good. Any recomendations?

A Little, well a big update. Went and got a used battery for the low one I had on the cart.

In the stores lot, was a very nice 2001 48v cart. Just $975 !!!!!!!!!!!! Batteries were at about 50%, but still I think it is a good price.

Drove away and came back a few hours later and picked it up. So now my toy is a 48v, with a 36V to sell to break even.

Anyway, everything I have on order will work with it, so I am jazzed!

So how good are the stock CC controllers? What are they rated at AMP wise?

I'd say you got a VERY GOOD deal on the cart. I have never had any problems with the stock Club Car controllers. I think the stock Club Car controllers are 275-300 amps.

You shouldn't have any problem getting rid of your other cart. Post it here in the For Sale forum if you want.

275-300 is OK for some mild fun.

See how the batteries cycle up an go from there. Will an Alltrax just bolt in? FIgure I will need around 500 once loaded up since I go at 250 and have 22 in tires for it.

I also have a 10hp motor rated at 5100 rpm on 48v

Do you know off hand what brand the motor is? I would go with no less than 500 amps with a speed motor like you have. It will bring new life to the cart...

Not based just on price, what minimum amp rating should I go with?

Just lifted it and added 22 inch tires.

Figure at least 500 and go to all 4g wires?? I want to er on the high side.

They have a good reputation. I use quite a few here and I never have problems with them. That's not saying the other brands out there aren't good though. Just stay clear of the refurbished controllers.
