Upgrading meter....volt meter or charge meter?

Newbie here.....I just bought a 2000 Freedom TXT, and of course, I want to upgrade some things. I think the current meter is original E-Z-GO. It's not backlit, so at night you really can't tell the level of charge. Should I get a volt meter, or a charge level meter?

I'd be interested in this as well. I have a 2010 with Navitas 48v system. The meter light never goes down, only dims. Is there an accurate one available

A meter that gives you the numerical voltage reading will be the most accurate way to see the battery condition if you can interpret the values. The graph style SOC meters are idiot proof but not always accurate. There are some meters that have both functions built in.
