Upgrading Club Car 2000.5 from 36v to 48v

I am looking to upgrade the batteries but haven't had any luck in finding anyone who can tell me if it is even possible, and if so, what will it entail?

It has a new motor that supposedly can handle 48v, but it also has the v-glide and coil system... Is it possible to upgrade the batteries to the 48v and get rid of the v-glide?

I did it, it can be a rabbit hole… new batteries, cables and rip all the v glide stuff out. You need a new controller, pedal, I did a reversing contactor. I had all kinds of trouble with cheap pedals. Went to a MCOR 4 from revolution and problems solved.

ok, that is good to hear, i have been getting the run around for the last six months and this gives me some hope... Im going to start searching for parts... Any particular places or sites you recommend?

And how does the cart run now?

Do it right convert to IQ and either go AC or sepex drive you won't need a reversing contactor there are some good aftermarket 0 to 5 K three wire throttles for about 50 $60

You can probably do the same thing for less than $250 also what is the price for the AC kit I can do a 4kw 440 amp for 1375.00

I dont know what the AC kit is... Is that instead of 48V batteries? Im telling you, i dont know anything about golf carts, i remodel houses so i can figure things out, but i have no idea about golf carts... I figured if i could at least get a proper parts list together, i will have an idea of cost, and a friend of mine with a proper garage will help me put it all together...

I dont really need high speed, more looking to be able to carry 4 passengers and have the power last for at least 4-8 hrs without having to recharge, if thats possible... I apologize in advance if my questions are primitive... I somehow f'ed up my batteries because i forgot to check the water level but even before that, top speed was 14, and 10 on the slightest incline... With 4 passengers, it is awful...

Im not sure you know what your asking but 80 to 160 miles on a charge you need a car.
4 to 8 hours at 20 mph = 80 to 160 miles

lmao, i absolutely dont know what im asking...LMAO After i sent it, i thought about it, and realized that didnt make sense since im not just driving for miles and miles... I got a good laugh that you called me out on that specifically

As others said, go sepex or ac upgrade, better and gives you motor breaking. I didn’t know enough when I started buying parts. It is a massive upgrade, but would have been better and easier going that route.
