Recent new owner of a 1990 EZ-Go Cart, previous owner gave it to me and said it has not run in several years, put a charge on the battery and it showed 13 volts however cart wont start when you push the throttle.

Tried searching the forums to see if there is some sort of flow chart or matrix to follow in order to troubleshoot and get it running.

Hoping that someone might step up to help me out.

Thanks in advance for the help and will post some pic's soon.

Welcome to the forum...

Does the cart do anything when you press the throttle. Can you hear the solenoid click? How low does the battery voltage drop when you try to start it?

Thanks for the questions exactly the kind of prompts I need. Will check this evening or else tomorrow afternoon. Have class tonight until 9:30pm so it will make it difficult to get to do tonight. Will also have to check if battery needs recharge.

Can I put jumper cables to battery just the same way I would a car?

Yes you can jump it the same way but using a charger to get the battery to as close to a 100% is the best way to go.

Went out there to start it battery read 12.2 volts, no voltage drop was noticed when pedal was depressed. did hear clicking of solenoid on firewall by gear shift lever as I turned the key. Anyone have any hints as to next step of troubleshooting or a link to a manual for this cart.

Check all your cable connections first. If it still won't start try jumping the two large posts on the solenoid with a 6 gauge or larger cable.

Try jumping the solenoid. If that works it is either your key switch or throttle microswitch needs to be cleaned or replaced. That worked for me. I had the same problem. Good luck!
