Trojan T875 Battery Readings???

Ok, just bought a "FRESH" set of T-875's 3 days ago for my 1996 CC. Just completed the first charge and 5 of the batteries read 8.41 or 8.42 after resting for 4-5 hours. BUT, one battery reads 8.21 and is the first battery (leading to positive terminal on solenoid) in the group.
Should I be concerned?
Should I wait until I cycle through 10 or so charges before questioning?

BTW, I posted earlier about T-875 prices. The Trojan Master Distributor in Louisville, Indy, Michiana and Michigan (Worldwide Batteries) has them for $95 and they are FRESH!!!!!

Please help someone, I will stress out over my $600 investment if you dont help!

Thanks

Welcome to Cartaholics.

The battery with 8.21 volts is only at about 65-70% charged. I would keep a close eye on it and if it doesn't come up in the next couple of charge cycles I'd take it back. You can hook a 12 volt charger to it for about 15 minutes to try to equalize it with the rest of the pack.

Thanks for the information on the Trojan battery prices...

I did change the first battery in the series with a new one and the battery in this location still reads appx. .23 volts lower than all the others... I even took the new battery and put it in the middle of the pack and took a known high reader (8.46v) and put it in the "spot". I then drove for a couple of miles, charged it all up and found that any battery put in the "spot" (first in series out to positive) will show a lower reading (up to .23 volts) than the rest of the pack after a full charge. Should I be concerned?

Something isn't right. What condition are the cables in on battery one? Is there any accessories hooked to that battery (lights, radio, etc)?

Only other thing that I can think of is a bad cable connected to the #1 battery. Have you ever tried taking a voltage reading on each battery while the charger is running? If not try that near the end of the charging cycle and post the numbers.

Brand new batteries can take up to 50 cycles to come up to their full potential. Always recharge at every opportunity with 15 minutes or more peddle time. I would run and charge these daily for the next month and see if they settle in.

I'll take a stab and say you have a wire hooked up wrong. Look at the positive on # 1 battery. It should have 2 red wires on that post. The bigger red wire will go back to the solenoid, the smaller wire comes from the charger receptacle.
Let us know if thats the problem.

.... Red wire from charging port was on the second battery in the series, dont have ANY idea how this happened. Thanks

OK I glad you found it but can someone explain to me how that battery was charged if it wasn't ever hooked up.

Ok if he ran the cart and then recharged how did battery #1 ever charge?
