Tires

I am ready for some new tires. The ones I have now I am pretty sure are stock. What do you guys have for mostly road driving, but won't leave me stuck in a little dirt. Also, is it easy to mount and balance tires or should I find someone to do it for me? I have done car tires, but I had the equipment available. Do I need anything special? Now the setup so you all can opine...

Thanks for the info.

If most of your driving will be on streets and dirt a any regular street tread should be fine. If you plan on riding in mud you might want to go a little more aggressive on the tread pattern. Some of these small tires can be a pain in the ass to mount. I take all mine to discount tire and have them mounted for $7.50 per tire. If you have a Discount Tire in your area check them out for your tires. Their prices are pretty reasonable.

I like Carlisle tires. I use them a lot and they hold up well...

Take a look at this site for a nice selection on tires if your going to buy them on line.

What about the extra weight? Does a larger tire slow you down at all? Or does the increased size mean more distance for each rotation==>more speed? Anyone have any data on how tire size affects battery run time? Thanks!

You'll lose a little torque with a taller tire but you'll gain top speed. On average you'll gain about 1-2 MPH for every 2" increase in tire size. With 20" to 22" tires you won't notice much difference on run time but I'm sure you lose a little. It's a good idea to upgrade to larger cables with the taller tires...
