The 81 EZGO golf cart I just bought is a mess.

Someone solid welded the suspension or lack there of i should say :D.
There was lots of things done wrong when i first bought it. I did some work and got working suspension under it. Then i added the top and changed the wheels and tires out for smaller diameter for more torque.

I plan on takin some lift out. I recently changed the back half over to the 89 EZGO for the motor and from what I'm told better rear end setup.

I have to take it to the shop and weld the exhaust back on and im going cut some lift out then.
I'll probably repaint it soon too. :)

It handles surprisingly well. I couldn't see spending a whole lot on a golf cart just to ride it through the creek so I used some shocks i bought for a blazer. I bought helper springs from autozone for 25 bucks and commenced the fabrication.

It rides rather nice, I thought it would be rigid and rough but it does quite well really. Stable too. I'm going to take some of that lift out for sure probably 2 inches or so.

Does your front axle move front to back? I noticed no link bars from the axle to the frame. If it does, the link bars would prevent this. Good lookin cart by the way.

Yes it does actually but not a lot. The link bars would take away from the suspension and I don't want to do that.
I may trade it for a truck today anyway. It depends on the shape of the truck and what he wants to do. I'd rather not but I need the truck for work and can buy another golf cart.

i hear ya on the truck, as for the suspension the bars would need bushings [a pivot point] at each end and this would not limit your travel.

Very cool! I would think you would like to do something to stabilize the F-R flexing of the front tower as it will eventually crack and when it happens, may chuck you out of the cart or worse.
