Tempted to Connect this Wire?

1999, (week 16) 48V Club Car DS.

I have a wire that I’m 98% sure both ends attache to this (see pic) terminal block. Following the wire itself, it attaches to a module also illustrated. Seems like wires exit the module (in the back) but I haven’t traced them.

Does anyone know what this module is and if in fact that wire does attach to the block With the other one?

I’m also getting the battery light coming on for 5 seconds, a pause, then back on for 30 seconds. Wash-rinse-repeat with it.
New batteries and I did try to reset the OBC by using the reverse buzzer method.

Huge thank you In advance.

That is the 16v-12v reducer, both wires are spliced together to increase the current capability, so the other one should be connected but isn’t strictly necessary. The other end of the box should be connected to B- on the controller, they do this so the OBC can measure the current it consumes.

Is your OBC connected or bypassed? What charger are you using?

Thanks for your reply.

I believe the OBC is connected and I am using the Club Car Power Drive battery charger. When I plug it into the cart, it waits several seconds before it begins to charge. I did notice a couple of times that the charger turned off but the turned right back on again during the initial charge.

The charger is supposed to turn off for a few seconds then back on, it does that to measure the batteries. Are you letting the charger complete the cycle or are you unplugging it before it is done? The Orange light usually has to do with the charge not completing or being on too long that it times out, although the second wouldn't be likely with new batteries unless they were really low when you got them

I allow the charger to fully charge the batteries.

When I bought the cart, the person I bought the cart from had installed just one new battery thinking it would help. This was just a couple months ago.

It didn’t and I ended up buying the 5 additional. I can’t for the life of me think that the new battery they installed went bad being under the stress of being the only good one And them trying to use it. You couldn’t drive 100’ and it would start to die out when i bought it. I don’t have a load tester and can only check the voltage.

Thank you again for your help.

Yes putting one new battery in with 5 bad batteries will absolutely ruin the new battery. How long had that battery been in there? If for more than a few cycles you’re probably going to have to replace the 6th and hope the other 5 didn’t get damaged. Measure the voltage of the one battery that had been installed compared to one of the other 5 both static and under load when you try to drive

I only bought the 5 batteries in early March. They only have a few cycles in them of being charged. I’m going to take that 6th one that was in there to the store where it was bought and let them test it. I can only measure the surface voltage, not under any load. The cart drives wonderful and has plenty of power and longevity so I’m curious As to what they say about the older one.

I left that 6th (older) battery at the battery shop as they found it to be undercharged. They wanted to keep it overnight to charge it on a slow charger and preform any testing on it In the am.

This morning I picked it up and it passed all diagnostic and came up to a full charge.

I switched the locaton where it was in the bank (was the middle) just for fun and the cables were all relatively new. I did clean them and apply battery terminal protectant on all connections.

I charged them all to full, took it for a good ride, then charged it to full again and disconnected the charger.

So far so good with no flashing battery light.

Thanks for your help.
