Starting problem

I have a problem starting my Hyundai gas golf car. It will not crank over unless it is connected to a charger. I replaced the battery so it is new. it will run after it is started but when I stop, it will not start again until I put the charger on it. Could the starter-generator be bad?

I agree with riverrat006, it's probably the brushes in the starter generator. Make sure you have good connections everywhere also.

if the solenoid is bad it still shouldn,t start by putting a charger on it? i would test the voltage regulator and if its good than look at starter brushes..........even though you say its a good battery i would still test and load test it............it may take a charge but be bad under load..............................................

Its a brand new battery. Also tried two other batteries that I know are good. One problem I have is I live 90 miles to the nearest place that works on golf cars. Living in the hills has a few inconveniences.
