I want to build a lifted cart. I have no Idea what I am doing but will give it a shot. First I need to identify the cart I just traded a three wheeler for. It has an 8hp honda motor. I am not sure if it is an aftermarket add on or what. Seems to be factory but I am not sure. Is this a cushman? Club? I have no Idea. please help so I can get some direction to repair the wiring and begin to lift and customize. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I don't know what that thing is... It looks like a custom built lift is in your future

Thanks for placing the pics on here. I have been researching and this may be a par car. Does that sound right? I does have a P logo on the front fender. If that is the case does anyone have an Idea of the year or where to find a wiring diagram?

I have done some deconstruction and cleaning. The logo is there but the black circle around it has been scratched up so the p or d is hard to see. It is made of straight lines like a triangle. The photo with the offroad tire is the size I would like to get to. Its a 22-11-10 I believe. If this was an electric cart they did a good job on it because it sure looks stock to me. The honda engine has what I would imagine is a standard golf cart centrifugal clutch that is spring compressed when the motor would be running to engage. Electric fuel pump, starter/generator motor and a electrical switch that is activated by the throttle. I can find the basics but have lots of questions as well. Does the engine start by the switch? Does it shut off automatically? The hill brake looks common enough and the bolts so far have been standard not metric. The brake works off of a central disk in the back of the cart sandwitched between u joints extending out to the spindles on short shafts. To facilitate tires of this size what size lift will I need? I read somewhere you need offset rims. So the 10 inch rims to a jem care will not work even if the bolt pattern matches? Any help you can give me is appreciated.

Update, I have not been able to find what kind of cart this is. Although I like it I had a golf cart mechanic with 20yrs experience come look at it. He said it looked like some kind of 70s frame with an aftermarket body. He was very discouraging and told me it would take twice what the cart was even worth to lift it. He said I should sell it for the price of scrap. The honda engine was not getting a spark. Not to be denied I kept my eyes open and will probably make this a street cart. I found out the coil was fried and ordered a new one. I also made a new purchase. I bought a beat up early 90s Ez go workhorse with a robin engine, that had a lift on it already. $50.00 Then I bought a 1981 Arctic cat el tigre snowmobile with only 500 miles on it for the 500cc 75hp 2 stroke suzuki motor in it. $100 Now I have a new project. A lot to take on for a first time cart builder but what the hell right? Here are the pics of the new aquisitions. Any comments or advise? Yes the Ez go runs supposedly but the steering is not complete and I need tie rods for it. Oh and the demolished tire was what happend when I drove to northern AZ to buy these things.

I love the forum, it is really informative and so nice to be able to share problems with other likeminded people.

So Here I am first time builder and am working on two carts. The red one needs a lift. No one has been able to identify the cart. It has spring suspension in transverse. I have had a mechanic look at it. I have sent pics to this site and another site not to be mentioned and no one can tell me what it is. So I am moving forward. The 8hp Honda motor is refusing to start. The wiring on this cart is jerry rigged according to the mechanic. I believe someone told me I would be installing a custom lift. Here I go. It looks kind of simple. I plan on placing a spacer in the middle of the rear suspension and leaving the axle which has two u joints in it lower. I just need to fab some mounts for the shocks. I have removed the motor in anticipation of installing the snowmachine motor in this cart. I will keep the robins motor in the workhorse for now because it starts and runs. I have removed the body to see the suspension better.

JayHawk you are a genius! I have been searching for a while. I googled shuttlecraft and there is one 1988-89 shuttlecraft for sale that is almost identical to this cart. I agree with you this will have to be a custom build. I am already brewing ideas on how to manage this thing.

Question for anyone, I have the before mentioned snowmachine motor, I also have now a 22hp Kohler motor. I will have to turn the shaft on the kohler to fit my clutches, or use the snow mobile motor and clutches. My question is this, I want to use this cart more for rock crawling, trail type stuff. Some top end is good but not really what I need it for. Which motor is better for this application. The high power of the snow mobile motor is interesting but every two stroke machine I have been around is more for racing. l think the low torque of the big 4 stroke would be better. I live in the desert too so heat will be a factor. The snow machine motor is water cooled and the Kohler is not. Which ever one I choose the other goes in my EZGO work horse.

The shuttle is made to look like a sports car. Not sure how it will look lifted. I would put the two stroke in that and make it a screamer. The workhorse would look great with a long travel kit and the four stroke is much better for crawling. It would probably be much better for fuel economy if your doing some long desert runs.

i'm kinda with the genius on this one, put the Kohler in the workhorse. i would swap the factory W/H engine into the shuttle and have two units that would be dependable.

um.. I am with ya nubs on putting the kohler in the Ezgo and using a long travel kit it would look good and I think would be better rock crawler. But I would have to through the 500 2 stroke in the race car shuttle and make that b**** scream. Not to mention then you have the a spare stock motor to rebuild and hold onto as a spare when you blow the 500......... or tear out the rear end
