Stalling Problem With My Harley Davidson Golf Cart

I have Harley Davidson golf cart with a problem with the engine stalling. The engine is dying for a while until it gets to operating temperature. Sometimes when it is hot too. When It starts to stall if I give it some choke it will come back up to speed. Do you think it needs the need valve open more?

Well since no one replied I adjusted the carburetor until I got it running right. I opened up the needle valve until it started to run rough and then backed it down until it leaned out. Runs like a top now.

I would check the spark plug a time or two just to make sure its lite brown or tan. :usa:

I'm stumped on this one. I changed back to the factory muffler because the Harley pipes are just too loud for late night use. It ran rough as a cob so I set the low speed idle to factory specks of 3/4th turn out but ended up at about 1 and 1/4 this being while it was warm. When I started it again it now has to be warmed up before you can take off and even then for a while you have to choke it a little to keep the engine up to speed.
I've tried everything to get it to work and no luck.

Any idea's?? Next thing it to remove the carb and look for a problem.

Adjusting the needle valve in and out on the carburetor is most likely loosening dirt. I think a good carburetor cleaning will take care of the problem.

Very interesting! I finally found the stalling problem- after it became brutally obvious. Last week I pulled the carb and cleaned it again. It was slick as a whistle inside but I still cleaned it thoughtfully. Put it back on same problem but less pronounced. Well while I had it at the festival it quit completely and wouldn't start for a while. So I charged because I think I have a bad ground somewhere. It started and ran fine afterwords. Well yesterday I opened it up to look over everything and low and behold I found the F1 wire to the starter generator burned into the wire.
Al this time it was arching against some steel strengtheners I had added under the seats. Heat shrinked the wire, moved it down and it is working like a charm now.

Cool I think I finally have it under control. Now just the bad ground.

Its been a few days now and she is still running like a top. Little choke after starting and no more hesitation. The top end speed is much higher too. We clocked it at 24 yesterday. Cool.
