Speed issues.......

I have 1993 ez go and replaced all cables with 4 gauge, 400 Alltrax, and cleaned all contacts on F/R switch. Solenoid and motor are stock. Battery pack voltage is 37.2. I removed my half speed reverse wires to the switch and my cart is 2 to 3 times faster in reverse then forward. Anyone have a response to what the reason would be? Could my motor be the problem? I forgot to mention that before I unhooked the 1/2 speed reverse, It operated about the same in both directions.

Welcome to the forum.

It's not uncommon for a cart to feel faster in reverse. Are you sure its 2-3 times faster? If it is you either have a real slow cart in forward or a super fast cart in reverse.

If that sucker is 2-3 times faster in reverse, just switch the motor leads to reverse the polarity...Then it'll be 2-3 times faster in forward....

Keep hoping Rod or Doug...The electric gurus will chime in... Was this a problem before you upgraded everything ...or did it just crop up???

You didn't see ANY improvements after the upgrades...

Are you still using the stock solenoid with this setup? If you are using a Alltrax 400 amp controller you should be using a heavy duty solenoid as well, not saying this is your problem, but something to consider.

You are correct about the solenoid being a switch....

Just out of curiosity...Did you try reversing the polarity to the motor???
