Hi Everyone, I am Knew Here and Really Glad I Found This Site.
I Have a 1997 EZ Go DCS and a 2001 EZ Go DCS That I Just Accquired ( Not Running Needs Batteries for Sure) Anyway I Have Had 2 Friends Tell Me Different Stories About Speed Chips. I Was Told My 97 Would Not Work W/Out Changing Motor,Controller Etc. But I Was Told That The 2001 Would Take The Chip............He Told Me Something Like the 01 Is Actually a PDS Cart?? Anyone Know or Have a Suggestion To Obtain Alittle More Speed W/O Replacing Everything (Motor,Controller etc).
Thanks in Advance and I Hope to Become a Regular Here.......bandit122

Welcome to the forum!!

The 97 would be a DCS so it doesn't have the chip. The 2001 should be a PDS and it will have the chip. Andy4639 sells a kit for about 30 bucks that will give you all the chip settings by flipping toggle switches.
As far as the 97 goes there's not a whole lot you can do except change motor and or controller.

If you have the 2001 cart then I have a chip setup that will give you all 4 settings. Have you looked at the controller in the cart, if so does it have the 5 pin connector in the upper right hand conner. Should look like this.

Hello Andy, newbie here. Been reading all the posts, and was interested in the speed chip kit mentioned. I bought a single chip for my 2004, and just curios about what is different with you chips. Any info would be appreciated as this is my first cat.
Thank you in advance, MNM38

The differance is I move the Tow/ Run switch to the dash along with two more switches that allow you to change the chip settings anytime you want without getting off the seat.
Normally you have to stop cut cart off take the seat off turn the run/ tow switch off then take the controller cover off replace the chip in the controller and reinstall everything.
