Sometimes only stays running if

Hi There New here. Problem is our clubcar at work sometimes only stays running if you hold the ignition switch in the start position. Thus the maintenace guy sometimes has to keep one hand on the key and drive with the other hand. Seems to me you could burn out the starter this way? Its COLD, we are in Massachusetts. The Ignition Switch was replaced several months ago when it came apart. But it sounds like to me the switch needs changing again. Anyone ever run into this?
