solenoid problems

Hello, I have a 1987 ez go electric that has had a sticking solenoid problem a couple of times in the last few months. I've replaced the solenoid twice with 36v units ordered off the internet. What could be causing these to go bad? I have been looking for a replacement this morning and now see that there is a series 70 and a series 71, which one do I need? I have did searches but cannot find out. Seems that some have silver contacts, would that keep them going longer?

When the problem occurs, the cart instantly moves when the key switch is turned to the "on" position. Is there no back-up feature that would prevent this from happening? Would the accelerator linkage need adjustment? thanks for any help. mw

If you are buying automotive solenoids, they are for momentary contact only.
Make sure that you are getting a solenoid that is for continuous service.
