smells hot when charging

I have an 05 pds 500altrax new batteries. Went riding today with the kids,got home cleaned her up and started charger. I went back out about an hour later and the charging port was almost to hot to touch is this normal and I just never noticed it or what.Oh yea 36v

The contacts are probably dirty in the charger plug and the cart receptacle. You should take the plug apart and check the connections inside and pull the cover off the receptacle on the cart and make sure they're tight. Spray the contacts with contact cleaner. If it still gets hot you'll need to replace the contacts.
