Slows on slight hills

I just purchased an EZGO "truckster" not sure,, it is the TXT model with just 2 front seats and a long flatbed. Looking to make a mini-fire truck/ EMS vehicle for use at football games, parades etc.

Problem with fresh charge, goes relatively fast on level ground at least 10mph, climbing slight hills, will slow too 2-3 mph. Is this a controller or battery issue. I do know it has the 4ga wires on the batts, 36 volt system.

I am a newbie here so any help would be appreciated. Just need to know where to start.

Thanks,

Randy

will post pics as soon as I can figure out how.

Sounds more like a battery or cable connection problem than controller.
What year is the cart? Is it a series cart or a DCS/PDS cart?
How old are the batteries?
Charge your batteries, let them rest for at least an hour and using a digital meter measure the total pack voltage and each individual battery.
Post up the numbers and we can go from there.

It is a 1998 model, I dont have the exact model number with me. I will charge them again and get the numbers. The batteries are supposed to be all 2006 models and for some reason 1 2009 model. I dont see the dates anywhere, just going on what the guy told me.

Thanks, Randy

If the F-N-R switch is down below your knee and the controller does not have a run/tow switch on it, it is a series cart.
The batteries may have a code stamped into the neg post, the letter indicates the month and the number is the year. Yours might be something like F-6 which would be June 2006.
Your battery pack after a full charge and rest should be about 38.2v and each individual battery should be 6.4v.
One low/bad battery can cause your problem.

Found the problem, one of the batteries had just enough corrosion to make it not get good contact, cleaned all of them and sealed them with the red spray stuff. Runs like a champ now. Thanks for the voltage info.
