Shorter Drive Belt On a EZGO TXT

Is there any down side from running a shorter drive belt on 2004 EZGO TXT? Will it hurt my clutches?

One inch shorter than stock seems to be fine but anything shorter will put added stress on the clutches.

HRC, will the shorter belt increase speed? Can I do this on my 05 ST? Thanks NSF

Normally a shorter belt will reduce your top speed and give you more low end torque.
