Replacing the Rear Axle

I have a 1985 EZGO golf cart. I need to replace the axle. I have been trying to look for a diagram or something to help me so I can replace this on my own. With some help from my father.

We both have been looking and can't find anything. And when looking at the axle can't figure out how to disconnect the old one to get the new one in. If someone could please reply and help me that would be great. Thanks!

Ok, I will give this a shot.

I have never worked on any thing older than 1999 EZ-GO. But I do know 99& up PDG.
First, can you tell me if the motor lays left to right or front to rear of your cart. And are you able to post pis's?
In the mean time block your front wheels & put the rear axel up on blocks. Now disconnect the last negative battery cable from your main pack. That wire should be going to F/R switch. Take off both wheels & pull off the hubs. I will stop here till I hear back from you.

GB, this thread started in the ClubCar Gas area (I think). HRC moved it here after I made the suggestion, and he didn't clean up after himself.

Bad HRC!

Yes I'm guilty...

For the axle you should have a snap ring behind the brake shoes that holds the axle and bearing. If there's no snap ring then you need to pull the pan off the rear end and remove the clip from the end of the axle.
