Rebuilding a 93

I have just bought a 93 and needs a lot of work. I can do the painting and I am fabricating a lift kit of about 3 inches. The cart works but the batteries sounded like they were boiling when I charged it with a lestronic 2 36 volt automatic charger. I am on a tight budget so and help will much appreciated. If any one knows where and what kind of batteries or tricks to get more power out of it that would be great. I will be looking for some bigger tires as well.

Welcome to the forum.

The "boiling" you hear is the batteries gassing and it's normal to a point depending on the condition of the batteries. Your best bet is let the charger run through a full cycle, wait a hour after the charger shuts off and check each battery with a digital volt meter. Then use the cart for a hour and check them again. Post your results of both tests and we can get a better idea on the condition of your batteries.

Bubbling batteries near the end of the charging cycle is normal. A 36v cart will probably get as high as 46v near the end of the cycle.
Charge your batteries each time you have more than 15-30 of pedal time.
Use only distilled water and only fill to 1/4"-1/2" above the plates.

What kind of "more power" do you want? Torque? Speed?

It is kinda of slow know I just know I have been in a columbia cart at work that is part of our maintenace department and it is a 36 volt and it is very fast. Could it be my batteries?

The old Marathon carts were slow in stock form with a probable top speed of 12mph.
Put a meter on your battery pack, a full charge is 38.2v, take it for a drive with the voltmeter attached, if it sags under full throttle more than 15% you may have battery issues.

I will try to check it tonight. I heard about a business in town that sells refurbished Trojan 105's for $50.00. What do you think about that? I charged the batteries yesterday only had about 20 min but ran it and then each battery read 6 volts. I will check the pack voltage and let you know what I find. Is there an upgrade to get more power without breaking the bank. Thanks for the help.

Ok, call me an idiot. I have tried to hook my voltage meter to everything electrical and all i get is 6 volts that is registering. That 6 volt reading is only coming from the batteries. Can you tell me where to hook up the voltage meter? Should I disconnect all the batteries and test them or buy new ones? I have to cut out the old battery box and put a new one in due to rust anyway.

To test the individual batteries with a digital meter just go from + to - on each batter, no need to disconnect any cables. To check the total pack voltage you can test at the charger receptacle of at the last batteries in the series which should have the wires for the charger connected to them.
