Rear Suspension Suggestions

Hey Cartaholics.. I will be installing a 6 inch spindle lift with 12 inch rims and 23 inch tire this weekend. I'm curious to ask if the rear suspention will be ok with this lift, or will i need to upgrade the rear springs also. I didnt think about this till now.
I'm sure this year sometime I will be doing a independent front long arm setup and the 3-link rear, unless you guys point me in a better direction. I will also be going with a bigger engine this year and would love to hear your thoughts on Briggs, Honda, etc. I'm leaning towards the Honda but would love to hear your opinions on engines. If it were a small block Chevy I wouldnt have to ask, thanks for any and all help.

You should be fine with the stock springs unless you have a rear seat. The HD rear springs will help with stability but if your not having any problem I would stick with the stock springs for now. The ride is pretty harsh with the HD springs.

Thanks for your reply.. I wont be useing a rear seat at all.. I've been having a blast reading past posts and theres a lot of knowledge here to learn, thanks again, john

I would still love to hear everyones opinion on bigger engines and what gives the best power for the buck and still dependable of course.. I'm getting addicted in a short time, haha...

There's a lot more aftermarket parts available for the Briggs engines. From what I've seen the Briggs and the Honda V-Twins are both very dependable. Check out AlphaCarts and you can get an idea of what's available for the Briggs and Stratton...

I want to see the small block chevy one would probably be easier to mold the body onto a narrowed Camaro frame. I have way to much time on my hands!!!!

i could probally have a easyer time with that as its not so new to me..ive been lappin valves by hand at the kitchen table for 25 yrs or so,,even built a harley from ground up in my bedroom 5 yrs ago..then had to take the handlebars off to get it out the door, finished it up and cranked it in the kitchen then had to take the bars and hard bags off again to get out the front door..i know, sometimes i learn the hard way...my wife must love me,,well, she puts up with me i supose.jOHN

another may sound stupid question..just finished the rear lift today and wondering am i spose to weld the new spring perch in place like we would a car or does it not need it because its attached to the pumpkin with u bolts there also...i keep lookin at it and seems like it should have a tack or something there but the directions didnt mention anything of that nature, thanks, john

From what you have said I would weld the new spring perch in place because it sounds as if you will be giving it alot of torque with larger motor? You may even have to add a HD torque arms later on if you go with the 3 link rear suspension.
My vote is for Honda motor upgrade, as around here they seem to be the most popular and seem to be on the high end of power upgrades?

thanks for your opinion,im leaning towards honda also as they are so reliable..hope the stock one lasts a while tho.just took it for a 2 hr ride around the dirt roads and it works fine with the new lift and wheels and looks cool to..definitly want the long arm suspention this year i hope, as the stock front ride qaulity sucks on the dirt roads but im not really in a hurry so i just go slow and easy to keep my back in line, haha

well im gonna try to post some pics, john

oh yeah...after a 2 hr drive i noticed when i stopped it wouldnt do anything and have power,,i wiggled the wires and it started again..got home and it wouldnt go again after i stoped for 2 minutes..then after sittin for 20 minutes it started again no problem..is there something heatin up or what??im sure hotrod can answer this,,thanks for this forum guys, john
