R/C Flying

Anybody here fly radio controlled airplanes?
I was surfing the net a little while ago and came upon a site that was dedicated to electric airplanes.
I thought it might be kind of cool to try it out so I read alot about the different models and how to fly and decided to get a SuperCub Trainer.
I never really thought about doing this before with the glow or nitro engines as it seemed to me a big expense to get started. But with this electric for $250 I was up and flying with a spare battery to boot.
I get a 12 to 15 minute flight out of 1 battery which doesn't sound like much but when you're concentrating on flying a plane that for me it plenty long.
I was nervous for the first flight about crashing but I did ok and have 1/2 dozen flights under my belt now with no major catastrophes.

I used to be into the RC cars. I always wanted to try the planes but I figured I'd crash land on every flight...

We need some videos of your landings.

I tend to nose the plane over on landings in my yard.I bought some bigger foam wheels today to see if that helps.
I have yet to take off and land on asphalt. I throw the plane to takeoff.
Videos of my landings would not be pretty

Thank you OLboy,

The bigger foam wheels and cutting a landing strip in my lawn at the lowest setting on my pushmower has let me takeoff and land instead of throwing the plane.
No more handlaunches for me !!!!

They are addicting.
I want to mount a video camera to it sometime. I have read that CVS Drugstores sell a small one time video camera that you take your video and then send it in to get processed onto disc. But there are no CVS Drugstores here in Canada so I will have to look for something else.

cvs does sell one. i looked at one after reading your post. its $29.95, 4.5" tall 3"wide and .5" thick. in other words it would be like putting an air brake on wour plane.

I looked at those cameras too and some other ones but haven't got anything yet.
I went over to a flying field near me a little while ago and got addicted to Glow planes instead of electric.
Love the sound and the smell

Learning on the high wing, and will fly the low wing in a month or so.

Thanks Matt, but don't worry about it.
I have found a few places on the net last night that sell them, but it's just not a priority for me right now to get one.

I have one more plane to add to the addiction.
A Sig 4 Star 40 kit.
My wife got this for me for Christmas. I have been building it throughout the winter and I am to the point of choosing an engine for it.
I think I am going to go with a 4 stroke for this plane.

I have always wanted to try my hand in model airplane flying but something tells me I would be picking up a lot of broken pieces. Whats the average price of a decent kit? Any recommendations?

RC planes are made to fly, some crash better than others though.

This is my real passion!!! IN fact the reason I got a cart is for support at fun flys. I go to Canada, San Diego and other places in between for the fun of it.

No better cleaner fun either
