Question About Battery's

I have a 1987 EZGO TXT Golf cart and was checking to see if I was getting power to each Battery while charging it on a volt meter and it wasn't reading anything on the volt meter except on to the two battery's where charger wires go to. Is this normal?

No it’s not. You didn’t mention the voltage of the string, so let’s assume you are 48 volts. You should see somewhere around 12.6 or so on each battery.

If you have six 6 volt batteries you should see the 6.? volts on each battery from the positive to negative posts. It’s no different than looking at the voltage of each battery in the string whether or not they’re charging. Is your voltmeter in auto range?

Now I have a new problem, I replace the resistor and springs on it, but the 3 speed spring is getting hot and the wire is hot too, can somebody tell me what that's means or going on?
