Put E-Z-GO In Forward While Still Moving In Reverse

I have an electric golf cart, E-Z-GO TXT PDS 2002 and due to my inexperience, I messed up the cart. I put the direction switch in reverse and then hit the forward switch while still moving in reverse, and then heard a beep and the cart shut down. It will not go forward or in reverse. The batteries are ok. What did I mess up and any idea on the cost to repair? ! It was working fine until I got a little impatient. Thanks for any input!

Welcome to the forum...

It's could be the controller. The PDS controllers don't like going from forward to reverse while the cart is moving. You can put the cart in diagnostic mode to get codes to help us figure out your problem. Here's a link that explains how to put the cart in diagnostic mode. Let us know what code(s) you get and we'll go from there.

Followed instructions for fault code---only got the initial 4 beeps---nothing after that! Any thoughts?

Just a hunch, but try switching the run/tow switch to tow, disconnect both main pack cables, turn key on & hit the gas, release gas & turn key off, reconnect the cables, switch back to run, and give it a try.

I found the problem----after close inspection, in the daylight, prior owner or someone, had used solder (sp) to make a connection between the cable and post as the nut is frozen on the screw that goes into the post, and of course, the solder finally broke, resulting in no connection. I wedged a piece of the solder in between the nut and cable end so as to make a connection, and the cart operated fine in reverse and forward. Now, I need to make a better connection or get a new battery. If I try to tighten the nut, I will destroy the post in the battery. Any thoughts on making the connection better or should I get a new battery? This battery is about 21/2 yrs old. Thanks for the suggestions!

Glad you found the problem. That's a lot cheaper than a new controller.

For the battery you can either try a nut splitter to get the frozen nut off. Or you can drill the flat part of the lead thats next to the post and tap it and put a stud in. If you do this make sure you don't drill deeper than 1/2 inch.
