problem with solenoid on 36v ds

Hi everyone, new to the forum and the world of golf carts. I bought my first cart, a 99 ds 36 volt. My problem is the cart would not move so following the advice I found on here I think I narrowed it down to the solenoid. I check the old solenoid for cont. on the small post and had none, so I jumped the big post and got movement forward and reverse. I switched the solenoid and put all the wires back like they were and no movement. I check the solenoid with multi meter and found both small post are keeping power when the switch is moved to forward or reverse. I dont have any clue where the neg. signal is suppose to come from. I did check the mirco switch on the F&R switch and I am getting 36v on both the yellow and blue wire, is that right? I also have found that the white wire going from forward switch to the large terminal on the solenoid has 36v while in forward and neutral. Also with the key in the off position if I shift the cart into reverse the buzzer sounds. Dont know if any of this is normal, I think if I could find the negative signal my problem will be solved. Thanks for any help you can give me

if its a single solenoid v-glide the microswitch you want is located inside the v-glide try and think of your solenoid as a big on and off switch thats all it is...............................

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that was where it came from but I wanted to be sure. I would hate to burn up my first cart I touch. Thanks again

I just got my cart working. I started a small fire with the wires coming from the key switch and reverse buzzer, but I think that helped me find a short in the wiring. I re did all for wires and replaced both the micros in the F&R and the v glide and everything is good. I also bought the service manual, everyone should have one they are priceless. Thanks Shadowman for all the help.
