Pre build info an a new offroad cart

Hello,

I was given a 36 volt Yamaha g1. I am not sure on the year. It needs some body work and batteries for sure. The plan is to turn it into a cart as close to a badboy buggy as possible.

This is the first time I have ever messed with a golf cart and I was hoping to get a little advice and insight on what I'm getting into. I am plenty capable when it comes to meechanical and electrical issues, but would like to get as much info as possible before I get started.

One of my main concerns is that I have heard the 36 volt will not be strong enough to power the cart in offroad situations.

Any information is helpful.

Thanks

I have two 36 volt EZGO carts one has 23" tires and the other has 22" tires. The carts do well off road. The only upgrades other than the lift and tires is 4 gauge cables, HD buss bars in the F/R switch and a HD solenoid.

Replace ALL the 6 gauge cable with 4 gauge. Including the cables running to the motor, controller, solenoid, F/R switch and batteries.

What about water?

do you have to be careful going through creeks and such seeing as the batteries are right under the seat. Will they short our easily?

The motor will submege before the tops of the batteries. Deep water will be a problem for a electric or gas cart.
