piston ring

i am finishing up putting my motor back together and was not sure if the piston rings face a certain way? i read somewhere on here that if they face a certain way you may lose compression. it would suck if i put it back together the wrong way to have to take it all out to move the rings. any help would be appreciated. Also i am looking for a cheap clutch for an 81 ez go 2 stroke. mine was tore up inside and i need a new one or a good used one. thanks.

most rings will have a mark of some kind, a dot or number that needs to face up.

if there is a mark it will go up, if no mark but there is an inside chamfer (angle) top ring goes up second ring goes down, this lets ring twist to control compression or oil.
