I would be remiss if I did not give a sales pitch for my hometown of Peachtree City, GA. We have over 6000 registered golf carts and over 100 miles of paved cart paths. Articles on Youtube show pictures and several articles in magazines discuss the student parking for golf carts at the local H. S. The speed limit is strictly enforced at 20 mph, riding through the forested paths is very enjoyable. I estimate I use mine about 20 miles per week for errands to the store, etc. and I am an occasional user. Many of the shopping center have special cart parking spaces and the reserved for carts pickup line at one of the elementary schools is very unique. It shows that small cars can succeed if only we try. There are some high dollar electric cars and a few NEV's, but most are conventional golf carts with varying degrees of modifications.

While we are talking about friendly, that could be debatable. There are three new golf cart dealers and one used cart dealer. There are no used or new car dealers within 10 miles of the city limit, but some good independent repair shops. Sometimes we are a little snooty. There is a Segway dealer in town and so far he has not gotten permission for them to be on the cart paths, but having ridden behind them in a parade that may not be all bad.

Lifted carts are allowed and the Segways just got approved. The Segways are so maneuvarable that the rider is often tempted to ride all over the place and not just in straight lines. This is a rider issue, the little vehicles are quite fast.
