Opinion needed

I need everyone's opinion to help me make a decision. I presently own an 84 Club Car 36 volts, I replaced the batteries 2 years ago, but in the last 2 years we are only able to get to our vacation home maybe once a month and use it a little during that time and charge it before we leave. Recently we weren't able to get there for 3 months and the car just sits without being on charge.

So it looks like I may need to replace the batteries again, so instead of putting more money into an old car, I'm trying to decide what to buy. I want something like a 2009 Club Car Precedent, 4 seater with lights and fold down windshield.

A salesperson told me to stay away from pre 2009 model because those models with their 4-12 volt batteries which had a lot of complaints and problems, and that is why they have gone back to using 6-8 volt batteries, any opinions on that statement?

Are the newer carts equipped with intelligent chargers that will allow someone like myself keep it connected for months at a time or am I going to have the same problem as now?

If I go with a gas model, how old of a cart should I buy?

Welcome to the foum.

The salesperson was correct about the batteries. I'd stay away from a four 12 volt system. You can also leave the charger plugged in on the newer Club Car and EZGO carts and it will keep the batteries charged. You would still need to add water as needed so it wouldn't be safe to leave them unattened for months at a time while left on the charger...
