I just got this EZGO Golf Cart- From what I have been told -

Ezgo's Dealer Vehicle Search -
  1. Related Account : Aftermarket Account
  2. Serial Number : 780526
  3. Model : Electric 4 Wheel Marathon
  4. Year 1993
I'm having a real tough time matching these to any schematics/ wiring diagram I have found. She has a wire on main negative getting hot when pedal is pushed. I think the switch is bad as well. This is my first cart and having some troubles. I don't mind doin the research but I can't seem to find anything on this specific model.

Definitely older than a 93 based on the tag may be a 1978. See if this diagram matches

You shouldn't have any wires getting hot you either have bad/dirty/loose connection on the post, a failed crimp at the terminal end or the cable itself is bad internally

Thank you- I tightened and cleaned a few connections. No warmth. Seems to be working alright now :)

From reading the ID Tag I would agree of 1978. (first two indicate year for those couple years per research) I had hesitancy because the seat pic below has a 1990 copyright and the seller said '93 . (Could be aftermarket seat too)

I will check more into this tomorrow. The diagram you sent looks close , but they all look close from pics to my untrained eyes until i'm in there.

Thank you for your assistance.

Finally got a minute to go thru. Heat build up happens when it's idle in forward or reverse. Cart key does not work, and when in gear it idles low speed and the resistor builds up heat immensely (even on jacks) as well as a few battery cables. Stops heating when i put in neutral immediately. This is frustrating due to the age of this bad boy. The solenoid was just replaced before I bought it. I used the meter and tested because i'm barely hearing a click (everywhere says it should be very audible. ) showed 38v each side while in neutral with no pedal depression. Is that mean it's open all the time ?

Any idea where to go next ? Thank you very much for any and all help .

Your solenoid is stuck check the small posts for 36v to see if it's being activated all the time or it's just stuck on. Probably have a bad wiper too if it only goes low speed
