hey guys. I am new to the forum and to the whole golf cart scene in general. I have a 93 ezgo electric I believe its a textron but not 100%.I got in after it sat for years. The original problem was it had a axle bearing that went out and the axle walked out of the diff..So after fixing this problem I had a different motor from a newer model that I replaced the original with because all the terminals snapped off while replacing the bearing behind the motor.Any way on my first test run while it was running great and it just died all of a sudden. Now all I get is a click from the solenoid. I have reference voltage of 38v. I have the same to the controller and all positions of the motor. I figured I have no ground to the motor because if i jump b- to the m- terminal of the controller the cart does want to move. What should be my next step in figuring this out? I checked the micro switch for continuity and checked ok. the throttle box says pb-15 and the controller is a curtis.

I did change the motor with a newer style motor I got from a local airlines golf cart. could I have damaged any parts using a motor not for my specific cart. it bolted in place but looked different outside like the connections were placed diffently and it was a thinner design. I am at wits end. yesterday I cleaned all connections with a wire brush just incase and still the same. I dont know what to do, does anyone know how to check the controller. Also I ohmed the two wires from the pot box to controller and seemed ok but how should the other two wires going to the front by the f/r switch be tested. Thanks for reading.

Welcome. Things get slow over the week end so do not give up hope. These guys are going to want to know what brand of cart you took the motor out of. All so they will want to know the numbers on the plate of the donor cart. Where the forward reverse switch is, etc. Anyway that would be my guess. I have not worked on electrics myself.

One of the ezgo guys should be along. They seem more confusing to me then a club car, i am just not familiar with them. There are a few different drive systems on those carts and the motors have to be compatible.

If it ran good on the first test run chances are the motor isn't the problem if it's a 36 volt series motor. Double check all your cable connections. If you can get the info from the cart the motor came from it will help us also.

Now that I know it is the controller I think I will look into buying a upgraded one. Any suggestions? maybe a 48v system ??
