New Motor and/or Controller

I have a 2006 stock 48v precedent. I have not gps'd it but I think it runs 14-15mph. I want to get around 25mph out of it.

I looked at the PQ motors and spoke with someone there and they claimed all I would need is the motor upgrade.....no mention of a new controller and I should see between 23-25mph. I also emailed someone at alltrax and they said they would not do a new motor without a newe controller and that depending on how much speed I need that I might get it with just a new controller......(no new motor).

I have new batteries on the cart so my question is what would I expect to see from

just a new controller?
Just a new motor?
New controller & motor?

I also want to put a 3" lift on it with bigger tires. I had a 6" on my last cart and thought it was a bit too much. I figured a lift with bigger tires would add 2-5mph.

What would you do to get this kind of speed (20-25)? I know the "how much you willin to spend?" comes into the question but I already know this will cost me near a thousand dollars before I'm done.

Any input appreciated,
Andy

The Precedent can programmed to the private speed setting by a Club Car Dealer for about $100.00 without changing any parts. Private mode should put right around 20 MPH. To get 25 MPH you could go with a EMP motor or a motor and controller upgrade. It all boils down to how much money you want to spend. If you're going to stick with the stock controller I'd get it programmed to the private setting first.

Many people with Precedents have used the $225 Plum Quick motor with no additional upgrades and have achieved 25mph+ speeds.
It basically is a reworked stock motor and it eliminates the private mode code.
EMP also make some great motors and you should look at them as well.

I called my nearest 2 dealers (2hr drive) to both. One didn't have the correct machine and the other stood at $175 firm last time I called them. At that rate I figured I could just buy a new motor.

I haven't had one reprogrammed in a couple years so it's possible $175 is the going rate now to have it done.
