Just bought a 98 EZGO txt model. I am looking to do plenty of mods to it. I like the street look, so it won't be lifted. I want to keep it as is with a nice set of wheels, and will paint the body. Was curious how the body comes off, just held by rivets? I am going to paint it the same body color of my Explorer! Wanting to get a rear seat for the kids to ride on, Ebay ones decent? Any good places to get upholstery, wanting to redo the front seat cover in a different color? Also, it is a 36V cart.....is there anyway to get more speed out of it? Thanks for any help you guys can offer! Here's a couple pics, 1 of the cart with the wife, and another of my Explorer so you can see the color I'm doing!

The body is held on by rivits. 32 of them to be exact. You will have to take a few bolts out as well. As far as the fronnew cot seat, I would check with the local cart shop as see if they have a cover for the front seat. You can take the old tan fabric off and replace it fairly easily. There are covers that come already molded for the seat. To speed it up......how fast do you want to go and how deep are your pockets. You can change the motor, change the controler, add one or two extra batteries (this will require a bigger controller);, or a combination. Most of these upgrades would require an upgrade the the stock 6ga wire to 4ga wire. If you are going for speed I would recomend the motor upgrade. Lightning redesign has the best motor upgrade and the best bang for your buck. I would post the link, but I dont know how....HotRod or one of the other guys should be on soon to hook you up. Keep us updated and remember take lots of pics of your build......

I don't need it to be crazy fast or anything.....just want a little more speed out of it. I'm not sure what speed it is at now, but would be nice to get some more anyway. 32 rivets.....wow, more than I thought there was. Thanks for the help!

The motor doesn't need to be changed, it is a 36v series motor that will take lots of voltage. My guess is that it probably runs around 13mph.
Increasing speed options are:
1) 48v upgrade: Change to 8v batteries or add 2 more 6v, change charger, solenoid and controller to 48v (17mph)
2) Change the motor to a high-speed version: (16-18mph)
3) Change the axle ratio from the stock 12.44:1 to an 8:1 (16-18mph)
Combinations:
48v + High Speed Motor (23mph) + Gear Change (28mph)

As far as removing the body for painting, most of the body people I have talked to recommend leaving it on the car and painting in place. It reduces the possibility of cracking and scratching the paint on re-assembly.

Thanks for clarifying! I was looking at the cart the other day and decided to leave the body on while painting.....looks like it will be much easier! Thanks!

Nice cart. The wheels are going with the Expy style.
Now put a light kit on it, black and silver seat covers, remove the scuff guards and paint that baby up to match the Expy. Maybe even some ghost flames might look cool in the silver colored paint.
Finish it off with billet accessories for the FNR switch, pedals and rocker panels.

I already have a light kit on order. I've thought about removing the scuff guards.....and will probably go that route. I'm not big on 2 tone seats, so they will probably go with just black.

That is a clean looking ride. Keep throwing money at it and it will still never be exactly the way you want it, but it sure is fun! Good luck with it.
