My Sun Classic thread

I recently picked up a Yamaha Sun Classic cart. I had never seen or even heard about these before but here it is.
There's a plate under the front with "J50-100999" stamped on it. A small amount of research tells me this is a 1991 G5 ?

Sometimes when I went to start it, the engine wouldn't spin over as if the battery was disconnected or something. I discovered that the voltage regulator sends 12 volts to the starter solenoid when starting. Sometimes it does not. I was going to buy a new voltage regulator but I came up with a work around.
I jumped the 2 terminals that are part of this circuit and I installed a momentary button below the shifter. So far so good. Anyone here ever heard of doing this?

This cart didn't have a top when I got it and apparently they are impossible to find. I did however have an EZ-GO top so I flipped it around backwards and bolted it up there. It works.

This is for sale near Disney world. It says it is a 1980 but I would take that with a grain of salt. $1800

Interesting... from what I've found, I think these were made from 1986 - 1995. I didn't realize there were electric versions.

So did that link work for you? I wasn't sure it would because of the way it showed up. It looks to be it pretty good condition.
