Motor removal

I think I may have a weak motor, how hard is it to remove from the cart, and what do I need to be aware of while doing so, thanks

It's pretty easy. If the cart has a run tow switch, switch it to tow first. Unhook the main + and -cables from the battery pack, spray a little penetrating oil on the four studs on the motor. Mark your motor cables and use 2 wrenches when unhooking the cables from the motor. Unbolt the motor from the rear end and slide if off.

scobar, gas or elec? either of them isn,t all that bad.......elec. just disconnect main poer { voltage } spray the motor with PB blaster or WD 40 and if you can let soak overnight.......elec. motors have 4 studs with 2 1/2 inch or 13mm nuts one to hold the stud than the cable goes on and the other to tighten cable......................be careful there so you don,t twist studs and break them loose from the componants they are attached to inside of motor...............than you have a mounting bracket with 2 bolts and 3 bolts from the front give a few taps with rubber hammer and slide motor off......be careful its a bit heavy.......mark all your wire and cable positions for re-install...............if its a reagan cart it will have a 3 wire plug un bottom front of motor just unplug....................................gas engine dissconnect battery remove your belts and clutches, you,ll need a clutch puller for front clutch...........dissconnect exhaust system get it out of the way, take out air intake tubes/hoses, dissconnect cable linkage from carb take fuel line off at carb, gov rod , i wouls also remove starter, write all cable and wire locations down, drain your oil, leave starter brackets on for handles and do your motor mounts you can also take off the plastic shroud cover on drivers side but i do beleive engine will come out with that on so leave that for last if you have to.................you,ll need engine alinment tool for re-installing gas engine....................time for elec. motor 1/2 hour taking it out for gas motor take your time approx 1 1/2 hours.......niether one is that bad but if you have never done it just take your time write any locations down and take notes.............be careful where you find gaskets as you can reuse them if needed........................hope this helps and should get the job done for you...............oh also ground wire from gas motor up front one end bolts to frame rail under area of F&R assm.................................................

Thnak guys
it's an electric (see sig) I am a back yard mech, we'll I have the tools anyways and your right it doesn't look too difficult. I just wanted to make sure some crazy spring with all kind of stuff doesn't come flying out. I can have it rebuilt for around $125. I thought that sounded fair.

I think maybe I should have asked this question first: Can the electric motors get weak to make the cart slow?

It's possible if the brushes are worn out or there's other problems. Usually they either work or they don't though.
