Melex Rear Brake Hub Removal

New Member
I've been searching, and haven't had any luck, except that EZGO and the 1980s Melex share a lot of common parts. My problem is squeaking rear brakes on my '88 Melex 252. I spent hours trying to remove the rear brake hubs (after removing the castle nut, the rear wheel, and spraying penetrating oil into the axle bore), plus warming the drum assembly to expand the hub, and using a very large wheel puller----to no avail. There must be an easier way.
Does any one here know if there is some secret way to do this, without destroying a part that I may not find a replacement for?
Thanks in advance.
