Losing fire

98 cart will not run unless full trottle or just off idle. At half trottle it spits and sputters like turning key on and off. Checked fire at coil when this takes place and losing fire there just like turning on and off. Runs great at wide open. Any suggestions as where to start looking.

Mine is doing almost the same thing. It will run at idle but cuts out when you accelerate....did the same check at the coil and appears to be loosing fire. My ignition coil and pulsar coil have been replaced. That doesn't leave anything but the ignitor, I guess I'm going to try that next.

jet and treed, it does sound like the ignitor, ive had them bearly make a spark and still run the cart untill it finally quit running, replaced the ignitor and there up and running again, there pretty salty on the price for what they are and to look at them, they are a key part of the ignition system with these carts. if you have access to a used good ignitor, plug it in and see if that makes a diff. or, i would look into fuel delivery to the carb. hope this helps

Well...I replaced the ignitor....and $130 later no change. If anyone needs one, I have a good one for sale. It just doesn't seem like a fuel delivery problem to me....usually if that is the case you can pull the choke and it will take off...this is almost a perfect miss. Can the motors be 180 degrees out of time or does that matter on this setup?
