Juicing up 36v EZ-Go

Hi Y'all,
This may sound lame next to all the high performance questions i see but here goes.
Can i add another 6v battery in series to my 36v ezgo to get more speed or distance.
I can get another charger for the 42v combo, or would 48v be as easy to do. How would a bigger controller help? I am looking for mods that won't kill me moneywise, but give a little more performance.
Thanks for any info you can give. jim a

48v would be your best option over 42v.
You will likely need a 48v controller, solenoid and charger.
What year is your cart and is it a series cart or a DCS or PDS model?

My cart is a 99 EZGO 36v. i'm not sure beyond that. i have room for an extra battery on the left side.

My cart is model E299, 99 EZgo. It will run 20-22 mph with 10" rim diameter tires
inflated to 35 psi. it really drops speed on hills though, to about 17 mph. it really runs pretty well on mixed date sams club batteries (replaced as necessary as they failed).
i am considering adding a 6v battery to go to 42v, upgrading the cables and controller.
this place has lots of carts (over 40,000) but few modified like i see on the website pictures.
thanks for any ideas. jim a

IMO going to 42v is a waste of money for what you get.
You will need a new controller and a charger, might as well go to 48v.
42v chargers are rare and more expensive than 48v units.
Buy 6 new 8v batteries and exchange them for the 6v ones already there.
42v will give you 15% more speed and torque, 48v will up it to 30%.
