Jakes vs. Stretch Plastics for Ezgo

I got a sweet deal on a new, rear Jakes long travel kit #6243 on eBay today! Now I just need one for the front. Before I bought this rear lift, I was intending on buying the stretch plastics front long travel kit from Wicked Carts. The Jakes front kit is only about $50 less. I like the look of the chrome stretch lift better than the Jakes, but do you think I am ok to mix the two? Does anyone have either of these lifts? How do you like yours? Thanks

I heard a rumor that strech wasnt going to be in the long travel suspension business anymore. maybe Wicked Carts could validate this for us.

I talked to Randy @ Wicked today, he didn't mention that. I didn't come across this Jake's rear lift deal until after I talked to him, or else I would have asked.

thanks Rich for the phone i enjoyed talking with you.....

we really didn't talk about the stretch kit manly about the rear v-twin kits we have done....

let me start with most kits will improve the ride of most carts depending on what you want to do with the cart, there are different kits that would be better than others....

in my opinion Stretch has the best and only true long travel front suspension... you cant get a long travel making something stock width or making stuff stock length... just a coil shock that's longer doesn't make it a long travel....

even though the stretch kits have been made over seas that were made and design here :usa: to bring the costs down Stretch ordered a container full.. and that supply has lasted over 3 or 4 years... so for an investment or Bus risk they are not going to order another container of long travels.... most of you guys are not here in cali but real state is not cheap chroming is not any better...

also here in cali the side x sides have taken over the off road seen for the last 4 years... ssince the side by sides or UTV's been on the market the bad azz lifted off road golf carts has fallen... we still build a few a year cause how we market them .

Stretch will still make them after there container is empty but they will be special order and more money.... we are thinking if the price is right is buying the jigs and build them ourselves …

now for the jakes rear kit you got this is what i warn you about them.... the coil over shock they use are not designed to take the full weight or dampening by themselves.... they are for VW that have torsion bars.... the trailing arms bolt to the stock front leave spring mount that's not long enough to make it a long travel...with the short arms and soft coils you will have a lot of what we call body roll the cart will lean when you turn and lean more if you have people in the back seat...

like i explained before tom's kits for the vtwin are great mail order jakes and strech have made then a great production bolt on mail order items.... that doent make they the best or that they dont need improvements.... we even have better shocks to offer for the strech kit...

now to compare apples to apples

the jakes rear kit retail is $400.00

my kit is $900.00

but you get

36" long trailing arms that are made out of 1 1/4 120 wall DOM
V-Twin engine cradle
front mount for the arms and cradle
upper shock mount
3 chromoly 1/2 rod ends
2 progressive coil overs to match the front stretch kit...

ill try to find pics in the lap top to show you... i hope this helps and I'm not trying to be disrespectful to jakes ,tom or ,all sports

ps we also sell a few of the all sports kits they are nice to... but shipping kill us for installs here in cali....

Wow, that is impressive! I can easily see how much more serious your rear lift kit is than the jakes, especially since you've incorporated the rear engine mount frame with it. Obviously that overlaps a big block swap, so $900 doesn't sound so bad if you are planning a big block swap anyway (which I am). And Randy, I hope you can still put those numbers together that we talked about?!
I love all the pics and vids. Very helpful. TY

Thats an interesting point you made about competition from the side by side market Randy. They are out of my price range for the amount of use I would get out of one.
