Is this a good deal?

I found a 2000 EZGO for $1000. I think it's the fleet model (the shifter is by the knee). Needs new batteries. It looks good cosmetically.
What do you guys think? Is this a good deal for the year and price?

I don't know much about these things yet. Am trying to learn as much as possible before making purchase. Body panel, seats, tires, cover all look good. Minor scratches here and there. I'm just nervous about the motor and parts I can't see. Any way I can "test drive" a golf cart with dead batteries?
 
Is there batteries in the cart. If so you may be able to get enough charge to test drive the cart. Or at least be able to tell if the motor and controller are good.
